Mr. Takano began his career at Daiwa Securities and was seconded to its U.S. office in 1991, where he co-developed asset management models with Nobel Laureate in Economics, Harry Markowitz. He later joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management and served as President of PIMCO Japan for 13 years. In 2014, he moved from the financial industry to publishing, joining atomixmedia (now linkties) as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes JAPAN to spearhead its launch. In 2016, he co-founded D4V (Design for Ventures) with IDEO, where he is Founder & GP. He also serves on the boards of several NGOs and NPOs.
