Taku is a bioinformatician who co-founded a biotech startup in New Jersey from 2009 to 2014, based on diagnostic technology from Hokkaido University, where he served as Director of Bioinformatics. After returning to Japan, he worked with major FMCG and venture capital firms in Japan and the U.S. In 2020, he founded Metagen Therapeutics (MGTx) to develop medical solutions using microbiome science. Headquartered in Tsuruoka, MGTx connects academia and industry. Taku lives in Sapporo and advises the city on bio-business and ecosystem development.
