After joining CSK (now SCSK) in 1995, he founded BizSeek in 1999, which was sold to Rakuten in 2001. He joined Rakuten in 2003 when BizSeek was merged into Rakuten. Appointed director in charge of auctions, and in 2005 became director and general manager of the business division of Rakuten Baseball Group. After leaving the company in 2006, he invested in startups and consulted as an individual. From 2009 to 2012, he was an advisor to Rakuten. In 2011, he sold Crocos, which he founded, to Yahoo (now LINE Yahoo Japan Co., Ltd.) and joined Yahoo in 2012. He has been in charge of Yahoo Shopping as a Yahoo Executive Officer since 2013, and became Managing Executive Officer and Head of the Commerce Company in April 2018, overseeing e-commerce, travel, and financial businesses. In June 2019, he was appointed as Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and COO of Yahoo, overseeing all commerce and media businesses; in April 2022, he was appointed as Director, President and CEO of Yahoo; in October 2023, he was appointed as Advisor of LINE Yahoo Japan, Inc. In January 2024, he established a venture capital management company, BoostCapital, and was appointed as Representative Director.
