We, Lotus Thermal Solutions Inc., are a thermal solution provider and a startup company originated from Osaka University, dedicated to achieving both decarbonization and higher performance by resolving the thermal challenges in semiconductors. We possess proprietary heat dissipation materials. Utilizing these materials, we offer cooling devices such as Immersion Cooling Technology, which significantly reduces server power consumption (PUE = 1.04), and High-Heat Flux ($\mathbf{700\,W/cm^2}$) Compatible Vapor Chamber Technology, which is essential for realizing SiC-PCUs (Power Control Units) in electric vehicles.
As of 2025, data centers are estimated to consume around 5% of domestic electricity demand. However, concerns are rising that by around 2040, this electricity consumption could reach a level comparable to the total national electricity consumption. As a technological solution for realizing Green Transformation (GX), immersion cooling technology for data centers and servers is strongly recommended in the Cabinet Office's GX Vision 2040.In immersion cooling, PCs are submerged in an insulating coolant. The entire PC is cooled by this fluid, and particularly high heat-density components like CPUs and GPUs cause the coolant to boil with their own heat. By utilizing this heat of vaporization for cooling, an effect more than ten times greater than standard liquid cooling can be achieved. Furthermore, the resulting vapor can be condensed and cooled by outside air at approximately $40^\circ\text{C}$ without the use of air conditioners or mechanical refrigeration (compressors). Compared to existing server cooling systems, such as air or water cooling, this significantly reduces power consumption, contributing to $\text{CO}_2$ reduction. We have successfully commercialized the Boiling Cooling Promoter (Boiling Cooler)—the core technology for this immersion cooling method—for the first time in the world, succeeding with initial sales in Japan and Taiwan. We are currently developing a server system with further refined thermal design and enhanced cooling performance, and have begun a demonstration project at Tohoku University's Nanoterasu, the world's best synchrotron radiation facility. Through this development, we aim to sell not only the Boiling Cooling Promoter but also our own high-performance, world-leading energy-saving immersion servers.
